A Two-Part Structured Course
Facilitated by Carmen
Part 1: 27 June | 9:00–14:00
Part 2: 25 July | 9:00–14:00
Each session includes a 30-minute studio lunch break.
Watercolour becomes effortless when you understand how it behaves.
The Watercolour Foundations Series is a structured two-part course designed to give you control, clarity and confidence with water and pigment. This is not a casual paint session — it is intentional, progressive learning built to help you move from uncertainty to capability.
Part 1 develops technical control.
Part 2 builds depth, composition and refinement.
Together, they create a complete beginner-to-confident pathway.
• Water-to-pigment control
• Transparency vs opacity
• Brush pressure and movement
• Clean edges and soft transitions
• Wet-on-wet techniques
• Wet-on-dry precision
• Smooth flat washes
• Controlled gradient washes
• Clean colour mixing
• Avoiding muddy tones
• Strategic layering
• Lifting and correcting
• Creating depth with light
• Building shadow naturally
• Colour harmony
• Balanced composition
• Strong focal points
• Refining without overworking
By the end of the series, you’ll paint with clarity, control and intention — not guesswork.
All studio materials are provided for use during both sessions.
For those who would like to practise at home between Part 1 and Part 2, our Beginner Watercolour Kit is available as an optional add-on. The kit includes a carefully curated, beginner-friendly setup — intentionally simple, high quality and designed to support exactly what you learn in class without overwhelming you.
Each session includes a relaxed 30-minute studio break.
You are welcome to bring light snacks, or you may order from our partner restaurants and enjoy your meal in the studio during the break.

When you book a workshop, that seat is reserved specifically for you.
All workshop bookings are non-refundable.
Due to repeated last-minute cancellations negatively impacting workshop planning and operations, refunds are no longer available once a booking has been confirmed.
We appreciate that life can be busy and schedules can change. However, when a seat is secured, preparation begins immediately. For this reason, cancellations do not qualify for refunds or credits.
If you are unable to attend, you may transfer your seat to another person.
To do so:
Transfers requested less than 24 hours before the workshop cannot be accommodated, and the seat will be forfeited.
In the unlikely event that Ava Lee Artistry needs to cancel or reschedule a workshop, participants will be offered either:
